James Bopp, Jr. Named a Member of IBJ Media's Indiana 250
Today, the Indiana Business Journal announced that the James Bopp, Jr. of The Bopp Law Firm, PC has been named to the fifth annual IBJ Media's Indiana 250, “a list of the state's most influential and impactful leaders across business, philanthropy, the arts, government and not-for-profits.” Check out Indiana 250 here.
In announcing the list, IBJ Media's CEO Nate Feldman said, “The Indiana 250 celebrates and recognizes the contributions of Indiana's boldest thinkers and doers shaping the future of our state. Now in its fifth year, the Indiana 250 has become the premiere celebration of those who are investing their talent and passion to make Indiana a great place to live and work.”
According to Mr. Feldman, “The people on this list are not just leaders in their fields; they are champions for their communities and catalysts for progress across Indiana.”
In naming Bopp as a member of the Indiana 250, IBJ said:
James Bopp Jr. has been one of the country's most influential lawyers for conservative
causes. Bopp has served as general counsel for the National Right to Life Committee since 1978 and is credited with developing the legal strategy that eventually overturned Roe v. Wade. He's been involved in more than a dozen cases that have been heard by the U.S. Supreme Court, including the landmark 2010 Citizens United v. FEC ruling that changed campaign finance. Bopp is general counsel for the James Madison Center for Free Speech. He was general counsel for Gov. Mike Braun's 2024 campaign committee and has served as vice chair of the Republican National Committee. Braun appointed Bopp in 2025 to the Indiana University board of trustees. The Indiana Lawyer honored Bopp this year with its Leadership in the Law: Lifetime Achievement Award.DEFINING SUCCESS: "Success occurs if what I have accomplished advances the conservative cause. Since I organized my high school for Barry Goldwater in 1964, my mission in life has been to advance the conservative cause, which I have been largely successful in doing."
In addition to receiving recognition as a member of the Indiana 250, Bopp was named by the National Law Journal as one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America, recognized by the Republican National Lawyers Association in 2009 as the Republican Lawyer of the Year, called by the ABA Journal “The most prominent lawyer in the country in campaign finance and election law,” and identified by the Journal of Law as one of “The Top Supreme Court
Advocates of the Twenty-First Century."
